No, Richard Kiel did not play Gort the Robot in "The Day the Earth Stood Still". Gort was played by Lock Martin, an actor who is actualy taller than Richard Kiel, measuring in a 7'7". He appeared in only a handful of movies, most famous, "The Day the Earth Stood Still." For more info on Lock Martin, check out:
