
Posted by Evil Eva on October 7, 2003, 5:00 am Boss has buggered off to France without signing any cheques and we will not get them until next Monday (13th) at the earliest, which means the money won't clear until Friday (17th) at the earliest which means all of my direct debits will fail. Is he automatically liable for my bank charges? And is saying "sorry I am not coming into work until the cheque clears as I can't afford to buy a travel card" a cunning plan?

I have no work contract, yet we have a verbal agreement that I get paid at the beginning of the month, and am given a cheque on around the 2nd which clears in my account by the 6th or 7th at the latest.
