Posted by Shaun I'm writing this to inquire about publishers to submit my poetry. I search the internet and find an abundance of publishers. However, this leaves me even further to confusion & speculation about who (contests, literary 'zines, ect.) and how (electronically, "snail mail", ect.) to submit. Here is where I stand at the moment. I've been writing poetry since my teenage years (I'm 22 now). This includes a powerful 2001-02 when I was traveling across Australia, New Zealand, and the Fiji Islands. Plus the more recently times (2002-03) traveling about Canada. I have collected, edited, and proofread almost all of these poems. Before I knew them by heart because I only wrote when I felt there was something important to capture or create. But because I have analyzed them several times I know these poems even more intimately. Next, I dwindled them all down to 40 of the "best" poems. Roughly the span of a chapbook. Because I've never been published before I'm not quite sure of the chances finding a publisher willing to take the risk of publishing the full book. So, I've taken these "40 best poems" and reduced them to 8 "best of the best". Ones that I feel would stand the test of time to a great degree and that can be looked at from a grip of different angles. These are also my most avant-garde in terms of rhyme scheme, form, and subject. In general the content of my poetry is to create or capture a moment of beauty in nature and "emotional-scapes" with detail but that which still provides plenty of room for a reader to interpret. Several of my poems also serve as songs. Some of which I've actually recorded or plan to in the future. I play guitar, percussion, keyboards, & turntables (DJ). I'm an American citizen currently residing on beautiful Vancouver Island in B.C, Canada. If you might have any ideas towards a publisher who'd be grateful in seeing my work I'd sincerely be forever grateful. Thank you & kindest regards, Shaun Apple
