James Arundel Massey was from the Newbold area of Chesterfield, he was a regular of the Devonshire arms public house on Occupation road Newbold moor where he often displayed his paintings, i was landlord of the pub in the early 80s and my late wife Diane who was a very gifted painter used to paint with him , i have a wonderful painting he did of the 3 horseshoes at Doncaster a pub we later had and he used to visit,
