Posted by Melinda I have a six year old standardbred whom has been off the track for aa year but has had about 5 months off this year before i got him. the owners before me rode him but he was pacing and couldent balance himself properly. So i started him from the basics agin. I taught him to lunge which was rather difficult for a shourt time then he got the hang and was fine. he now trots and canters happily. i rode him a bit when i first got him, and he was fine, every so often he would kick out pigroot or buck but normally wouldent. then he suddenly wouldent do anything other than a walk with out putting up a show. now i have him working perfectly on the lunge and i ride him at a walk and he is good but i would like any opinions or theorys if possible.
