An unexpected equine death in our family has left us with an empty stall, broken hearts, and several thousand dollars in veterinary expenses. We are now one horse short for riding season and are looking for a new addition. A friend suggested we consider adopting a Standarbred, and after finding out how versatile the breed is, we've decided to explore our options.
I'm looking for a STB gelding that has been used or bred for pacing in the Michigan/Ohio area. I'm interested in a younger horse (4-8-ish years old) that has great gaiting potential, is somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-15.3 hands, is sound, calm, and has a wonderful disposition. While we would normally consider horses that might have special needs, we are looking for a sound horse without activity restrictions as this will be a primary riding horse that will be loved and ridden frequently. My husband and I are both professionals in the equine industry and come with EXCELLENT references.
