It might serve you well for a season, but it breaks down and becomes very spongelike and mushy. Eventually it needs to be scraped/dug out so you can add new footing again. It's a quick fix only. Do it right with proper grading, layering of sand, gravel, etc. Costly, but lasts longer and will perform better.
