Re: Class-E and Class-D2 States Results
As an "old-timer, " I find this hard to believe. What year did PA states have 92 "E" teams? The "E" class was started in 2008, when 8 teams played in Drifton for the chip. The next year was maybe 15 teams, with UBBIBC winning the championship. While I haven't played "E" every year during the 14 years of teams playing "E," I can't recall there ever being 92 "E"teams at states. For the younger guys, the talent today is phenomenal. There are plenty of young players who would be "great" regardless of the era they played. I think most "old-timers" feel the game is dying because teams don't want to play league ball or in competitive divisions. I have no answers for these problems, but it is a shame when quality area leagues have folded and the top leagues can only get 5 teams to play.
