Steve, I will certainly give you a call to discuss a little later this afternoon. But to preface where Smitty and I are coming from, the fact is that literally every "A" team from last year with the exception of paragon WAS the B division three years ago. Not only that, but the other teams that made up the rest of the B division three years ago would be the same teams that are "moving up" to the "A" division this year. When we played all these teams three years ago in B, I really dont remember our team (Ribhouse) or Jared/Smits team (Iacs reloaded) or Beer/Toscos being such a dominant force that we all needed to get out of the division....In fact, if i remember correctly, Facenda absolutely whooped our ass every time we played them... The reason RH and Iacs and Beer moved up to A is because there were only 4 teams in the A division to begin with and the division folded mid year....but at that point the B division was running great and had a great mix of teams that all beat up on each other. In my opinion, either too much credit is being given to last years A teams or last year's B teams are not getting enough credit... it is probably a combination of both... but I am really confused about why a few teams "moving up" is being treated like some ultimate sacrifice. We were all playing each other just a few years ago..I dont remember any of them having a problem with it at the meeting...but maybe I am wrong and wasnt there for those conversations. But in my short time in the league, Every team I have seen win a championship at Heels field, including my own, has gone through a period where they were considered a "bad" team...we all took our lumps and over time eventually built some very talented teams. I just dont understand why we are now trying to complicate this thing. No offense to Paragon at all because they are a phenomenal team who won a state championship last year, but when we sat down to discuss this same issue about teams "moving to A" (when we had the meeting at Chap's), it was already predetermined that Paragon was going to run away with championship after championship for years since they were playing RH, Iacs, Beer and Charlies (at the time, all B division teams). At that meeting, it was also mentioned that Paragon might not lose a game all year....and for the last couple years, yes, they were pretty dominant throughout the year....but forgive me if I am wrong, and again I dont mean any disrespect at all to Paragon (the example just fits in this case), but I dont think they have won the league championship since we had that meeting.
In the long term, more parody in the league is a good thing. Not every team is going to be equal, but why is that a problem?
Anyway, Steve I will give you a call and I hope to discuss with everyone at a league meeting soon. Filibuster over.
