Bucha and Michael J - completely understand what you guys are saying - but as a pitcher - the height will give you at least a step or two to back up if you want. Plus a higher arc keeps the batter in the box as they can't run up on a higher ball. Again - this is just my opinion as a pitcher that has been around for a while. I like to hit just as much as the next guy - but most of the guys that want the ball lower don't toe the rubber. And while I agree that you may get a few more middle shots - they won't be ones that are squared up on a lower pitch. Especially for guys that already hit middle to start with. There is no solution that would make everyone happy as with any issue - but I think the pitchers should have the final say.
