Sorry to say this but ragging will always be brutal and sadistic because India is a poverty stricken nation of 1 billion where to survive you must be ruthless. That ruthless attitude permeates into every relationship. So for incoming freshers, my advice is this: work hard, avoid the ragging if possible and avoid trouble with seniors...do the minimum ragging that you will need to escape trouble with them. Study hard get good grades and then immigrate to canada, or the usa or australia. These countries have good human rights and I have noticed that goras treat indians much better than indians treat each other. I am now in the USA and love that I can live with dignity here. I even have a beautiful white girlfriend I will soon marry and my children will grow up in a healthy and clean pollution free neighborhood and attend top notch colleges where there is no "ragging" All is not perfect in the west but it is much better than poor, diseased, and sadistic India. Immigration is your way out and don't get involved with campus crusades over raggng. Good luck !
