Yeah, we did a lot of research on different schools over there-research that took us over a year to compile. But no one told us about the ragging. They told us it existed, but that it was "harmless fun" and that being an NRI I wouldn't get ragged. They didn't tell us that girls had been hung naked in classrooms and pushed off of rooftops. Be careful..please. They are not going to tell you about all the bad stuff. Trust me..please trust me. We did the research..we asked people..we did it all. Being an NRI makes it worse. They hate us. They hated me because they said I was not Indian nor American. They said I was nothing. They said I was theirs and they could do whatever they wanted. And the teachers weren't any better. When we went and visited the campus and talked to the professors before I enrolled everything was fine..they talked to me VERY respectfully and politely. They were "very happy" I was coming to their school. Then I enrolled..everything changed. The profs said I would go back to the U.S. and make more money than they ever would so they were going to make it as hard as possible for me. They spoke in the local language (now, I know Hindi and Gujarati..but nothing else)-they were supposed to teach in English. They called me names in front of the whole class-calling me "American Animal" on many occasions, amongst other things. I mean, the Dean was even part of it. He was the one I went to to complain about all of it, and he pretended to listen to me..and care. But after it got physical and my parents came over there we got a private detective and the police involved. Now the dean had told me he had already talked to the police, but it was later found out that he did not even contact them once. All this went on over the span of 9 months. Anyway, it was revealed that the Dean had not only known about everything, but that he was praising those students that ragged me.
