post Legionella pneumonia

I am a 41 year old male, that at the age of 28, worked as a bridge carpenter for the Railway in Queensland, Australia. When repairing a timber 4 metres below the surface, ( 100 years of silt and muck ) within hours I was hospitalised with double Pneumonia. However, every year since, especially in the winter months, I contract Pneumonia again, sometimes more intense than others. 3 years ago I got a pneumococcal vaccine, and now it had run it's course, down I went again with it.
I know that every time I suffer Pneumonia, that it leaves scar tissue behind. Being in the prime of my life, a non drinker and never been a smoker, how much punishment can my lungs take? What is the long term answer? What is the long term damage?
