Posted by Nina on 7/20/2003, 3:43 am, in reply to "What is doujinshi? (K) " Ryo - the main role, and usually the one that is protected by everybody. He is said to have the least stamina and easily exhausts himself (actually, that's because he use his power without thinking, i.e. using unnecessary power at the beginning. so sometimes he runs out of his power quickly.) He is usually portrayed as someone who has the purest heart, and thus, the primary protector of human beings. Acts before thinking, just like Shuu. If these two are together, it is very hard to hold them back. Ryo and Shuu are usually portrayed as people who rely on instincts. Usually do not like study, but sports. Growing up in the mountain, hence has little or no idea of how fashion is like. Sometimes he is said to have little common knowledge as well (for example, bring a tiger into the middle of downtown Tokyo)...Love nature. Half of the Japanese doujinshi portrays Shin and Ryo as a couple...primarily because of Shin's attitude in the YST. Shin - The eldest one, the caring one, but looks younger than Seiji and Touma. The only person with blood type A, which is said to be very cautious, and likes to take care of other people. Since his hobby is cooking, it is said that he controls Nasuti's kitchen. This makes Shuu and Touma (yes, he too) think twice before doing anything against him. Shin is said to have very good communication skills, very social, and very good in deal with all kinds of people (just think him as a politician, you won't be too far) But he uses these skills for good, and he has a good heart. Usually gentle to almost everyone, but only shows his own true (or scary?) personality to his closest friends...At times, he could be as cynical as anyone could be. And likes to tease people (who are close to him). His victims are usually Shuu and Touma. Depends on the author, sometimes Seiji, but almost never Ryo...The mediator of the group. Growing up in a traditional family like Seiji, Shin has and follows a lot traditional knowledge. However, unlike Seiji, he is the only male in the family,( with a sick mother, and a gentle elder sister), so he can make his own rules if he likes...Shin usually has the image of being a heir of a wealthy family. In Japanese YST doujin word, Shin's nickname is "Daimyoujin" (the name of a Japanese God), who is very powerful, (almost) cannot be defeated, and would punish whoever against him. (a famous joke in Japanese YST doujin world is that if someone is unable to publish a doujinshi by schedule, it is said to be "cursed" by Shin.) Shuu - probably the easiest one to explain, because his American image and the Japanese image are pretty close to each other. Likes to eat, of course, but also cooks for the others. Shuu will not receive favor without paying back. The eldest of a bunch of children in his family. Shuu knows how to take care of others as well. Largehearted and usually care-free. Never take things too much and easily forgive anyone. Never depress for too long and usually cheerful. Family and friendship are very important to Shuu, and usually he'll do anything for them. Shuu is the one who the least liking using his brain among the five. So he usually don't study at all(^^;) Shuu is probably the most 'normal' person in the troopers. Touma - very complex. Genius, of course, but sometimes without common knowledge (like Ryo), or sometimes ignore common knowledge (^^;). He is the one calculates, gives tactics, and sometimes portrayed as very cruel or unfeeling to his enemies. For Touma, friendship, or human relationship in general, was not important, until he met his companions. Usually unaffect by emotion (depends on the author, though), but gradually become more humanistic after the fighting. Touma is said to have very extreme reactions. For things/people he likes he'll treat them his best, spends all his time on them, etc (for example, if he begin to study on something, he'll forget to eat or to sleep). For things/people he does not care, it doesn't matter to him what happens to them (for example, if he didn't care about his grade, he might miss a test even if he can get a A easily) Since sometimes achivement is too easy for him, it does not mean much to him. Does not like rules or comformity, is sometimes egocentric. He is the only trooper who can argue with Shin verbally(^^;). Like Shin, he could persuade people into doing anything by talking, but sometimes is too lazy to bother. Hobby: sleep and eat (*chunkle*) Seiji - he is the one with probably the most variance(^^;)Grow up in the traditional family, and has very old (or rather ancient) common sense....(which means that sometimes he does not know the common sense in modern world). very very traditional living style, with a lot rules and regulation, but perceives them as a nature thing to do. Seiji usually does not lie, and does not like people who is lying (depends on the author, he might have the ability to tell if someone is lying). Saying things straight and believes giving truth is a virtue. Seiji could easily enrage others by what he says. Usually not good in dealing emotion, and usually express little emotion (i.e., well-controlled emotion). Like Ryo, Seiji is said to have a very pure heart. And acts on righteous no matter what happens. He is the prettiest one but is probably the person who care the least about looking. Seiji usually does not people talk about his being beautiful or having different hair and eye colors. (and sometimes he has problem to judge if someone is beautiful^^;) He is usually portrayed as the one with the sharpest sixth instinct, and sometimes acts on it without thinking. The least social. And because of his mother and sisters (in his family, women are more powerful, and Seiji was played like a toy^^;), Seiji has problem to talk with girls, and he is usually not interest in talking with them. Probably the one who value effort the most, and would study and practice with his best. Seiji and Touma are usually perceived as a couple. (usually, not always^^;)
