Posted by Nina on 7/20/2003, 3:06 am, in reply to "What is yaoi? (K) " It denotes the couple of the romatic relationship of which the doujinshi depicts. The usual symbol is like this: seme(aggressor, or the "male") "X" uke(the passive one, or the "female" role). By the way, "seme" or "uke" is solely depends on how the *&@# part is in the story. It does not matter if the "seme" person is the passive one mentally. If in the story both partners have both roles, it is called "Riba" (comes from the word "Riversible") So example: SeijiXTouma would be Seiji on top of Touma when comes to the #@$% part (Please forgive my language ^^;) So SeijiXTouma does not equal to ToumaXSeiji. Couple-ing could also be used to denote normal couples as well. A Japanese doujinshi circle would usually specify its own couple-ing. And the position of the circle in a comic market will be based on both its genre (e.g., YST) and its couple-ing (e.g. ShinXRyo) Some circle denotes the couple-ing on each doujinshi (especially if the circle has multiple couple-ings) And just a note here: People with different couple-ing do not usually communicate to each other (lots of exceptions, of course), especially when there are a lot of circles existed for the same genre.

Couple-ing is the Japanese-made English word, used only by the Japanese douji world (so again, it's not in the dictionary).
SeijiXNasuti would be a romantic story about Seiji and Nasuti.
