Posted by Nina on 7/20/2003, 2:42 am, in reply to "What is doujinshi? (K) " In general, doujinshi are much more expensive than usual manga/comic books. It could be about 500 yen for only 30 pages.(and there is generally no price printed on the cover of doujinshi). The price is set by each circle. The Anthologies such as 'Samurai Kids' or 'Choudandou bokuhatsu' or 'Yoroi to Sakura to' are anthologies of doujinshi published commercially. The publisher asked the permission of individual doujinshi circle to include her story, and published the selected stories commercially. The price are, therefore, much cheaper than doujinshi. Doujinshi are on-sale either by mail-order or at Comic Markets. Some circles do not accept mail-order, and some circles set specific limitation with mail-order (e.g., no foreign order).

Doujinshi is privately published books (manga or novels). There is no ISBN number on it. The size and shape of the book, the type of paper, whether the cover is colored to black and white, vary depends on individual circle (a circle is one or more individuals who published doujinshi). Usually, doujinshi (most often 20pp. to about 100 pp.) are much thinner than commercial comic books (200pp.)
These commercially made anthologies then, have ISBN numbers.
