In addition of "ballistics", "dandou" can also describe the power of a spring. But this is not a "real" word. "Dandou Ryoku" is a word made by the YST screen writters. It's not used anywhere other than in the world of YST.
As they are talking about power up of the armors, there is a need finding words describing the power of the armor, both before power-up ("Dandou Ryoku") and after power-up ("Chou-Dandou Ryoku"). The naming doesn't really mean anything, and yes, it has nothing to do with the ballistics. Just like the "samurai Troopers" do not ride horses (as "troopers" imply).
"Chou" means "over", or "greater than".
