In Birth of Tragedy, Nietzsche references the wisdom of Silenus: the best thing for man is never to have been born; second best, to die early.
Does anyone know the original source for this myth? I've looked a bit, and can't find it anywhere. I know Midas and his golden touch is referred to in Ovid, but I can't find this story anywhere...
