Posted by Myron Blazek I don't agree with you. The greatness of an artist can be measured by the "Beautiful Feelings" he arouses. Yet, a steady diet of any 'one thing' is revolting. N knew this while still sitting at Wagner's feet. Beauty is subjective. Feeling is living. I should like to tell you where you can find the not so arcane 'Grandstyle' in music since you suggest you have never found it. It is Beethoven. It is Wagner. It is Schoenberg. It is the discovery of an idea that is worked out through composition barely aware of itself with no thought to 'please or persuade.' It just is. Woman? Woman is women. Whats to say to that, but I am over the hill ..and, no woman composer has ever given this old duck 'beautiful feelings.' Musical ones that is. Also, take the time to read the brilliant young doctor Benjamin Moritz (musician) in his essay "Nietzsche & 20th Century Music." http://www.nietzschecircle.com/essayArchive5.html --Previous Message--
