I got my copy from either ABE Books.com or Thrift Books.com. It was paperback and very large. I recommend reading it, Jay. It has so much history about the war and politics let alone the family structure of the plantation owners, their children and their slaves. The movie covered a lot of it, but the book goes into, probably, a more realistic look.
Scarlett, of course, is the main character. Margaret Mitchell did such a good job of describing her characters that they seemed vivid. Of course I picture them all from the movie, but the casting was spot on to the descriptions in the book.
Even though it took my old eyes a long time to get it read I don't regret it one bit. I know some who've read it several times. Once is enough for me.
