I was in the midst of the uranium boom in Moab, Utah. Hundreds of people crowded
into the sleepy little community. The schools were filled beyond capacity and they had to build new ones to accomodate the influx of people. People lived in tents along the road, in cars, and everyone was going to 'strike it rich'. The teachers had two complete shifts; from 7-12 and from 1-6. And they had to be dead or dying to take a day off! My 7th grade english literature teacher read THE RAVEN to a gaggle of wide-eyed kids who (if they were like me--) had nightmares later!
