Hi! I am Sharon Carpenter from Memphis, TN. I am looking for a potential church home for my son who is in AIT at Ft Sam Houston - going through combat medic school. (He is now home on Exodus.) Jacob currently has orders to report to the hospital at Ft Shafter at the end of April. Jake grew up at Bellevue Baptist Church under the pastoring of Adrian Rogers, youth pastor Phil Newberry and college minister Rob Mullins. He is EE trained and loves the Lord Jesus with all of his heart. Right now is quite difficult because there has been no fellowship whatsoever since August 20 - until he came home yesterday, that is. He will leave for the Gatlinburg college retreat on 12/27, and while he is home he will be with friends and buddies who will be able to encourage him. I said all of this to ask you if your church might be a good place for Jake when he gets to Hawaii? I am praying that I can find someone (male, please) to correspond with him while he finishes school at Ft Sam Houston to provide some fellowship and a link with Hawaii so that he can start to feel a connection. Jake will probably be living in the barracks - he is an E-3 - but he knows that finding a church is imperative. I guess that I want to facilitate that process of finding a church home because he will be so long without it. We were in worship services this morning and I was watching him soak everything that Pastor had to say up. I could tell that his well was dry. Would it be too much trouble to ask you to let me know if your church will even be logistically feasible? I found the church site on the internet, and it looks like a church that is comparable to Bellevue in mission statement and purpose. Thank you for any help that you can give us. Sharon Carpenter
