Get a Cirque Peak 7.5' USGS Quad...it will really help in your initial planning.
Trailheads...New Army Pass, Cottonwood Pass and Trail Pass in that order, this is my preference. You will also need an exit permit, which is listed as trailhead. This info is readily available at the Inyo NF website.
Distance on the first day...15 to 16 miles, +2,300' or less.
Second Day...from Lower Rock Creek Crossing to the Tarns is around 10 miles...the hardest part is to the top of Guyot Pass in the first hour.
Last Day...Same as the first distance wise but 4 of those miles are with light summit packs.
We leave a car at the entry and exit trailheads. It will take about an hour to drive between the trailheads, it's about 35 miles by car.
Also, the WP Store has a shower but you need bring your own towel and soap. Whatever they charge, it is worth the price of admission.
