You said you were going to be searching for Medicare Plans. Not sure of age or reason but if of legal medicare age for SS may I strongly suggest taking straight medicare and the AARP Supplemental Plan G or F and their RX plans as well. You get deep discount on premiums if an AARP Member as well. I bring this up as you know these past 5 years I've had major health issues and many surgeries. The first 2 yrs of the past 5 I was under an Advantage Plan and not straight Medicare. It HURT as I had lots of out of pocket expenses, high co-pays and deductibles. ONCE I qualified to go straight Medicare with the AARP Supplemental ( I picked plan F) as it covered co-pays and deductibles. I didn't think I could afford it but I could NOT have made a better decision. The cost of the Supplemental plan paid for itself. From my last 3-4 years of medical care, co-pays (doc visits), hospital deductibles/inpatient care/DME's needed & etc, surgical and all doctor services my out of pocket costs was -0-!!! My mo. premiums for my Supplemental paid for it all and trust me. When you have a cost of $30K + and have -0- to pay the mo. AARP Supplemental Premium was a blessing. This also inclused all Xrays, MRI/CT Scans, Breast Exams and any other needed Radiology, Oncology and Blood work.
Hope you've done your research and looked at deductibles, co-pays, exclusions and etc. before making the decision. Good luck!
