Posted by Jeff on 9/22/2007, 7:31 am http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=3237 The Judiciary Committee will be holding an interim study and public hearing on firearm preemption legislation on Friday, September 28 at 1:30 pm in Room 1113 on the 1st Floor of the Capitol. Firearm preemption laws create a uniform standard across the state by not allowing local governments to pass any ordinance more restrictive than state law. Preemption keeps law-abiding gun owners from mistakenly violating a local law while traveling throughout the state. Please plan on attending the interim study and public hearing to provide the Committee with more information about the critical importance of this legislation and the need for consistent firearms laws throughout the state.
