They say the perpetrator displayed a firearm to her on North 65th Street Tuesday. ------------------------------------- A woman and an infant were injured by gunfire Monday night when someone fired a weapon through a window of their home at 1924 Binney Street. Neither injury is considered to be life threatening. ------------------------------------- As gunfire continues to echo through the city neighbors planned to gather Tuesday night for the annual Night Out. -------------------------------------- Gunshots rang out three times Monday night in an Omaha neighborhood. Around 12:20 a.m., officers heard gunshots and saw a man running from a crowd near 24th and Pratt Streets. Nineteen-year-old Damon Phillip allegedly pointed his gun at the officers, who fired at him in self defense. Phillip was found hiding behind a nearby car with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Minutes later, police heard another round of shots, and found 13-year-old Mia Sheppard suffering from a gunshot wound on the west side of North 24th Street. After transporting both Phillip and Sheppard to the hospital, a third series of shots were fired near 24th and Manderson Streets. No one was injured in the third shooting, but all three incidents are under investigation. ------------------------------------- 19-year-old Lincoln woman has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault. Tiffany King allegedly drove three teenage boys to a park where they could go skateboarding on July 22nd, but only two of the boys got out of the car. King allegedly had sex with a 14-year-old boy in her 1997 Plymouth Neon. The two also allegedly engaged in sex again the next night in the Arnold Elementary School parking lot. ------------------------------------- A live grenade scare had the Omaha bomb squad in action this morning. Around 10, crews responded to an apartment near Creighton University Medical Center, where a strange device was found. The item was removed from the apartment at 25th and Irving Court by the bomb squad, who then detonated it. No one was injured during the incident. ------------------------------------ Details about an early morning carjacking and robbery are still sketchy, according to Omaha Police. They say a woman was forced into her car at gunpoint near 32nd Street and Redick Avenue. The suspect then forced her to drive him to a bank and withdraw money from her account. No arrests have been made.
Omaha went about 24 hours without a shooting but the brief streak of bullet-free air ended late Wednesday afternoon. Police are taking action as the wave of violence continues.
