Word quickly traveled through the neighborhood that the man heard screaming was dead. Omaha Police Officer Bill Dropinski says, "As officers arrived they located the victim laying on the sidewalk right off 24th Street. They called for a medic right away. He was in need of medical attention. The medics got there. They declared him dead at the scene." Police did not immediately list a cause of death but neighbors believe the man had been stabbed. ------------------------------- Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that injured a man in South Omaha Friday night. The incident happened around 9:30 at 23rd and M streets. Authorities say that the victim was shot in the shoulder by someone in a vehicle that sped away from the scene. There were conflicting reports on the description of that vehicle. ------------------------------------- An Omaha woman found naked in the trunk of a car in Auburn, Nebraska is in a Lincoln hospital as authorities investigate her alleged abduction. She says she was in that trunk for three days. Authorities say that farmers found the woman in the trunk of the vehicle that was parked on a rural road. She was hospitalized in stable condition Friday. The Nebraska State Patrol says that she was found between 10 and 10:30 Friday morning by two men chopping wood near the Auburn Cemetery. They heard a woman's screams coming from the trunk of an Oldsmobile parked on the side of a county road and they called 911. Emergency crews freed her from the trunk and took her to an Auburn hospital. She was later transferred to Lincoln. The 40-year-old woman told investigators that around noon on Tuesday, March 27, she had stopped to take pictures near the Auburn Cemetery when three men in a gray older Chevy pickup with blue primer on it pulled up behind her. She said the men assaulted her and locked her in the trunk of her car where she said she remained until Friday morning. ---------------------------------------
Omaha Police have identified a man who was killed at 24th and C Thursday morning as 28-year-old Jose Garcia of Omaha. Neighbors heard him scream. Police found him down on the sidewalk.
