Schrunk's mother turned her daughter in, telling deputies that they could find her daughter in a car just across the street from the courthouse, near 17th and Harney streets. When the deputies tried to act on that tip, they approached the car and Schrunk got violent, authorities said. "As they approached this vehicle, they tapped on the glass and explained that she needs to come with them," said Lt. Wayne Hudson. "She produced a knife and said she was refusing to come out. The deputies said, 'Well, we have the keys to the car." Hudson said one deputy drew his gun, the other drew a Taser. That's when Schrunk got out of the car and lunged at the officer with the knife, Hudson said. "At that time, the deputy with the Taser fired and missed because he had a side shot of her. He reloaded -- as she's chasing the other deputy -- had time to reload the weapon, fired again, subsequently dropped her to the ground," Hudson said. Schrunk scraped her chin, Hudson said, and went to a hospital for stitches. She's since been booked into jail. Hudson said the situation could have been fatal. ------------------------------------- Omaha police said a bank was robbed just after 10 a.m. Friday. Officers said in a police report that they were called to Creighton University Medical Center at about 12:35 a.m. Officers were told that medics had found a 69-year-old woman lying on the floor of a home at 820 N. 44th St. The medics said the woman's son was in the house, but refused to help his mother other than to hand her phone. Officers went back to the address and arrested Theodore Barnes, 32, on suspicion of abuse of a vulnerable adult, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and disorderly conduct. --------------------------------- OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha Police Department is asking for help to find the man who they said robbed a liquor store last Friday. A man walked into the Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits on 101st and Maple streets, police said. He told the employee that he had a gun, then took off on foot with money from the store, police said. The robber was described as a black male, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, 170 pounds and 20 years old. He was wearing a knee-length blue parka, an orange stocking cap and dark blue jeans. ------------------------------------ OMAHA, Neb. -- An Omaha man said his instincts took over when he saw four people trying to knock down his door early Thursday morning. Jon Cowdin said he heard someone trying to break in and when he went to the door, he said he encountered a group of burglars. "He tried shoving in a gun at me through the door, and I took the gun out of his hands before he got the chance to fully point it at me," Cowdin said, "I turned the shotgun back around, and I shot him in the head, unfortunately. I wish I would have missed him and they would've run, but I hit one," Cowdin said. "I hope he's OK, but he shouldn't have been doing what he was doing." Blocks away, deputies stopped the four people. A 16-year-old in the car had been grazed in the head by a gunshot. He was treated and released at Creighton University Medical Center then was taken into police custody, deputies said. Also arrested were Jacobee Knave, 21, and Jerrett Jackson, 18, and another unnamed juvenile. -----------------------------------
