She is married and has a net worth of over $25 million, largely from real estate holdings and securities investments. In office since 1987, she is one of the most liberal members of Congress. Pelosi consistently votes to restrict the ownership of firearms and concealed weapons. [16] She has voted consistently to restrict the amount of handguns sold in the United States and extending the waiting period for purchasing a firearm of any type. However, she voted against 24 Hour Background Check Amendment bill that would make background checks at a gun show mandatory because the waiting period was only 24 hours [17]. She later voted for an amendment to this bill that would extend the waiting period to 72 hours[18]. She also voted against the Gun Ban Real Act of 1995, which sets the mandatory minimum prison sentence to 5 years in prison for possession of a firearm while committing a crime and 10 years in prison for brandishing a firearm while committing a violent federal crime or drug trafficking because it repealed prohibitions related to semiautomatic weapons and large capacity ammunition feeding devices[19]. She is weak on national security – she’s opposed the Patriot Act, the NSA surveillance program and the Secure Fence Act. She opposes the war in Iraq and prior to 9/11 was considered a fiscal conservative on military spending, meaning that she was opposed to supporting defense spending. And she’s against the 2nd amendment by supporting gun control.
As I think about the election, the scariest thought for me is Nancy Pelosi becoming Speaker of the House. Aside from the fact that after the Vice President, this position is next in line for the Presidency, Nancy Pelosi is just plain frightening. It’s worthwhile to take a look at who she is.
