Robert King
Vassar, Michigan. Long time Vassar resident, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went home with our Lord on July 4, 2005, while at his Vassar residence. Bob was 69 years old. Bob was born Oct. 26, 1935 in Royal Oak, Mich. On August 24, 1957 Bob married Miss Patricia Going, together Pat and Bob had celebrated 47 years of marriage. Pat survives him. Bob worked for 37 years with GM at the Saginaw Steering Gear Plant (today known as Delphi). Bob was always very active in his community. He served the community in many ways, he also was active with Tuscola Township as well, serving on the Tuscola Twp. Board of Review, and serving on the Tuscola Twp. Parks and Recreation Board. But most of all the community will remember Bob for his dedication as an E.M.T. for the Vassar Area Ambulance Service which is today known as Vassar MMR. Bob was also a very dedicated member of the St. Lukes Lutheran Church of which through the years he served the church in many ways. Bob loved to watch his grandchildren’s sporting events, he enjoyed his times fishing, bowling, and playing softball. He loved watching the NASCAR races or any sports in general on TV. Bob loved doing the daily word search. He will be missed but forever remembered for his warm smile, a friendly hello, and his willingness to help. Funeral services for Bob were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2005 at the St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Vassar, with Pastor James Naumann officiating the services. If anyone wishes to give a gift of remembrance in Bob’s memory, the family has suggested doing so to the St. Lukes Lutheran Church, or to the Bullard - Sanford Memorial Library in Vassar.
