Without getting all accounting technical about it, the P&L figures are likely to be worse in reality than appear in each club's accounts. |
Transfer fee income is taken as income in the year it happens, whereas transfer expenditure is spread over the contract length of the player. You can show a profit just by trading players with no "net" gain. Even some of the 20 showing a profit may actually be making a loss, including Stevenage.
