OK well done for admitting that you were wrong and the club were right.
Yes, I'll happily admit where I'm wrong. How about you?
Going back to the original point of maybe playing our left back/ left wing back/ left winger in a more forward position as part of a three.
He isn't a left winger and has never played in that position for County.
Do you think if Dave Challinor (SCFC manager) said to Ryan Rydel, I'm not being funny here Ryan, but we are in the 5hit. Is there any chance you can play left wing as part of a front three for us against Salford as we are short of attacking options and we NEED TO SCORE at least two goals.
We're not short of attacking options if Paddy's fit (which in your hypothetical scenario, he is); we've got 3 out of our 4 strikers fit.
He might have said yes boss no problem boss. I don't think he would have said "no, that's not the role I prefer"
That's a strawman argument because nobody's saying Rydel wouldn't play there if asked. The point is he won't be asked because that's not his position and we have other options who can/would play there first.
And it wouldn't be a first as earlier in the season Dave Challinor asked our central attacking midfield dynamo if he'd play right back for a few games. As a professional, Collar got on with it and did OK. I suspect that Rydel would do just the same.
The difference there is Collar's played right-back before when at Brighton.
Rydel could play as part of a front three of that there is clearly no doubt.
There is doubt, because he's never played there before.
But I'm not saying he couldn't play there, but given:
- it's the most important game of the season - he's never played there before - we rarely actually play a front 3 and - we've got other options fit who have played there before (as far as we know)
