    Motherwell fan here, I was sticking my head in here to see what the script was with Crankshaw as the club haven't made any sort of official announcement one way or another.

    Fwiw, it's not even a case of Crankshaw not being rated he's just been a casualty of the new manager changing our shape. He was largely fine in the handful of appearances he made.

    If he's back at you guys and the loan has effectively been cancelled it's not really a reflection on the player.

    When he was signed by our previous manager we were trying (and failing) to play a 4231 and our record of 2 wins in 20 league games should give you an idea of how that was going.

    We went on a trolley dash through January and brought in a pile of forwards. However, after getting bounced out the Scottish Cup to a lower league side we changed manager.

    The new manager has taken a radical approach and decided to play players in positions they're comfortable. We've switched to a 3412 with our width coming from our wing-backs and since then we've won 4 of our last 6 and only lost one of those (to Rangers) and bounced up from joint bottom of the league to 8th.

    The team is basically picking itself now and we already have another winger on the books on loan from Leeds (who's a Motherwell academy graduate and is from the town) so as things stand Crankshaw is a bit surplus to requirements especially as we only have 8 games of the season remaining and the injuries we had in the forward area seem to be clearing up.

    As I say, it's more an unfortunate case of circumstances not really working out rather than a reflection on the player.
