    Thought we played really well today especially in the first 20 minutes.
    The second half was more even and they stopped us creating chances.
    Unlike some who sit near me in the Cheadle End, I am not in the habit of lambasting referees week in week out with mindless comments. It really isn’t an easy job and reports from the football authorities suggest that referees are leaving the job in droves due to abuse, threats to themselves and their families (including death threats) from grass roots level up. Without a ref and the other officials there is no game.
    The ref today was poor, giving free kicks for the most innocuous challenges and rarely penalising dangerous play. He bottled out of giving anything in the box to the attacking sides. The assistant in front of the Main Stand was equally poor, seeing nothing even when bad tackles were made right in front of him.
    Orient knew he was weak after they equalised when they stood in the corner in a huddle for a full minute before he shifted them back to halfway (even then they were in no hurry as I believe they would have taken a point at that stage). They preyed on this weakness throughout the rest of the game.
    Having said all of that, however, it’s up to the team to rise above all that and put teams away when they are on top. There will be games when we are away from home and the home fans will be equally angry with the ref. All in all, I truly believe that in the course of a season things are evened out, even if it may not seem that way.
    Anyway, well played today County. You can count yourselves as really unlucky not to get at least a point.
