I worked for a council for 12 years and dealt with PR relating to various controversial planning applications. Basically in planning law there is already a football ground there so there is a precedent. Anyone who lives in the vicinity of it accepts that fact. They are entitled to objections which might result in the odd tweak to plans if they can demonstrate what is planned would materially affect their quality of life. But it is extremely unlikely that anything they could come up with would block an application. All that said, it is clearly massively in the club's - and our - interest to be a kind and considerate neighbour and take all views on board, rather than just railroading something through. The proposed travel plan is a very good step in that direction.
