I've been away for over six years now. I don't recall the UK's city and town centres being quite as awash with drunks, trash, vomit, violence and unruliness in 2013 as they seem to be now. Has it changed that much or am I mis-remembering?
I admit that when I lived I Rochester I never ventured down the road into Chatham at the weekend. It was bad enough when they spilled into Rochester. And I loved Canterbury but never went there at weekend evenings.
I visited home a couple of years ago and had a reunion in Newcastle. Superb city though that is, the Saturday evening was like a Hogarth engraving.
