I'd much rather help her out getting work experience, setting up on her own etc when she's 17/18 than chasing a degree that won't really aid her chances of getting a job in any way.
In my job now I've completely removed the education bit from the job specs I send out when recruiting people. I don't care if someone has got a degree or not. The best software engineers/developers I've worked with either dropped out of university to start work or didn't bother in the first place.
