Close international cooperation and the peace between nations that brings, the 4 freedoms, and the fact that unified all the nations of Europe have more negotiating power on a world stage. You'd never get the US imposing chlorinated chickens on the EU but you'd be damn sure they'll be forcing it on us to get a trade deal. They want to open up the NHS to their private "healthcare providers" too. We are as a collective stronger in the global world that we live in today and I really cannot overstate just how strongly I feel about international cooperation, particularly on issues like tax avoidance.
Plus the two things you mentioned.
Is the EU perfect? No. Do I think it's better than being isolated in a global economy? Yes. We can't rely on the empire for our wealth any more and even some commonwealth nations are more inclined to have agreements with the EU without us than us alone (India springs to mind).
