I love the way people think democracy in this country is about one referendum, when our parliamentary democracy - one of the things this country uses to bolster its own ego and image - is the antithesis of relying on single votes for complex issues. In addition I find the exhortations of May and many of her colleagues that somehow a failure to back her deal or exit with no deal would be to fundamentally undermine democracy to be both disingenuous and hypocritical, given that those who have done most to undermine the democracy of this country on this matter are those very people. She's a bully, of course. She's just not a very good one.
What this should do is undermine the idea that you can use a single referendum to decide a very complex matter. As many of us said before another Etonian cockwomble decided to gamble the country to solve an internal party matter he had neither the gumption or the skill to address.
