Oswell is playing with his back to goal and more likely to receive the ball outside the box than in it. When he is in the box the service from midfield and the full backs is very poor. The crosses from the wings aren't good enough with Stephenson cutting inside more often than not.
Warburton is playing deeper and deeper as he has morphed into a midfielder so Oswell occupies the attention of an extra defender. Warburton tends to be running at pace less and less.
The constant in-swinging corners are predictable.
Invariably the opposition tend to win the ball and whilst they sometimes put the ball out for another corner the end result is not good.
When we do win the ball in the air (generally from free kicks and crosses) the players are static and the ball tends to loop up and over the bar or ends up as a comfortable catch for the keeper. I can't remember the last "bullet" header that came from a County head.
Keeping clean sheets appears to be the emphasis at the moment and whilst a dozen clean sheets between now and the end of the season (totally unlikely) would be laudable a dozen points would not.
We have at best an average defence and should be trying to mitigate that by scoring more goals than the opposition.
