Obviously there is an average ticket price, but just for the example lets say everybody pays full price.
So Reading subsidise 15 x 6000 = £90k
However. Reading get 45% of the overall gate receipts.
So let's say the attendance is 70,000. As they say the ticket prices range, so just to be conservative lets say the average full ticket price is £40.
That is £2.8 million in gate reciepts.
So Reading will pick up £1.26 million as their 45% share.
They pay £90k to subsidise their fans. They still take home £1.15 million roughly.
Now lets say Reading protest. "We want the tickets to be £30 across the board".
£30 x 70,000 = £2.1 million
45% of that is £945,000
So are you telling me that even if they could do, clubs like Reading/Derby are protesting too much? They subsidise their fans so they look like the good guys. But they are still coming out in a much better off position.
