I very nearly got a season ticket; I'm so glad I didn't. I agree that the league has got tougher but it's not too dissimilar compared to last year. When you consider the fact that the likes of Spennymoor and Blyth (never mind Brackley) are above us, it's evident that both playing and coaching staff are massively under performing.
There's a lot of games to be played and teams will change positions but lets not kid ourselves: Blyth, Brackley and Spennymoor are miles ahead and more than likely will finish above us. I hope I'm wrong. If Bradford continue their form and go from being relegation fodder to play off contenders within a season, then every single fan has the right to question this situation.
It's desperate times when we're clutching at straws to achieve 7th place. We should of been**** comfortably in the play offs from August onwards.
For me it's excuses, excuses, excuses from top to bottom at this club. It always will be.
*** I base that on the fact we had one of the strongest defences last year and are now one of the highest scorers this season. I know Montrose going is a big loss, but all of our signings were supposed to be marque signings in this division (on a part time basis). On paper anyone would say that's enough pedigree for a top 3-5 finish.....If anyone was prepared to settle for 6th or 7th and say it was "acceptable" at the start of the year, then we may as well throw in the towel.
