Once again for someone who is doing no denigrating you're denigrating the town. There is plenty going on in Stockport, two town centre theatres with an impressive array of shows and events, a very active art gallery, music of all sorts on most nights of the week, and that's just evenings' entertainments. Granted not as much as
in Manchester, but there never will be.
That depends on what you define as cutting-edge architecture.
You can't really compare Birmingham, the second largest city in the UK, with over a million
inhabitants with Stockport. Birmingham could throw up any buildings and they would still be known and recognised precisely because they are in Birmingham. You'd be much better off comparing it to Watford or Wolverhampton in terms of size, accessibility, proximity to much larger cities etc...
Besides which I thought your beef was about a "poverty of aspiration"? Why are you picking at the minutiae of the architecture of the town (with special interest in the Pyramid) and ignoring the wider picture? Like a pedant you'll doubtless try pulling this apart, most likely with spelling and grammar mistakes and hilariously incorrectly used words that make you look like a modern-day Delboy Trotter practising his "French".
