Do you associate the German flag with Nazism?
I'm glad most people's views on politics and history are formulated in the classroom. The cool, unbiased, and none confrontational classroom is a good place to learn about wars, and rivalries. A far better place than in a combat zone. I think the world would be a better place if more people spent more time in classrooms learning about things.
Your words about reconciliation sadden me also. Given that there are meetings every year between Luftwaffe and RAF pilots, and that the local pub near me (a Parachute Regiment watering hole) has an annual meeting with a Fallschirmjaeger veterans association, I find it sad that you'll never see your way to reconciling yourself with your former enemy. McGuinness and Paisley managed to forge a peace. There must be hope.
I do respect the candour and honesty of your words. And like I say, respect your opinions. My cousins were both in Northern Ireland and I wonder how they would feel. Not seen them in years sadly.
