Hopefully everyone is now aware of the Players’ Fund, whereby supporters contribute to the playing budget of the current manager. Help the Hatters administrate the fund, supported by the Stockport County Supporters' Cooperative. Contributions to the fund come from donations and additionally, from sales in the Bungalow before and after home games - 50p per pint. In addition, Help the Hatters and the Co-op contribute significant sums to the fund from time to time and pods are placed at various locations around the ground for fans to contribute cash on a match day. Fans have also instigated 'Boost the Budget' days to raise awareness and increase donations.
The money raised is passed to the manager specifically for the purpose of strengthening the team and it has always been hugely appreciated. Unfortunately, the arrangement whereby shares in the Club, held by the Co-op, were offered in recognition of the contributions has now ceased. However, the Fund goes from strength to strength and is a fantastic tool in the fans' armoury to ensure that we are doing everything we can to support the manager in our quest to regain league status.
