Tooting is the South London home of "The Tooting Popular Front" who were lead by "Power to the People, Citizen Smith."
This was a very popular and very funny comedy which appeared on the telly in the Early eighties. The character, Citizen "Woolfie" Smith, was played by Ilkeston born Robert Lindsey and the series was written by the same team that went on to write "Only Fools & Horses." In fact, the last episode of Citizen Smith was titled "Only Fools & Horses."
