That's not strictly true. The gate receipts are used for the running expenses of the club. Whether or not Leonard Curtis are exhaggerating the costs is another matter, but if all revenue into the club is lost - IE, people stop buying tickets, then unless a buyer pops up, they'll sell off more players until eventually we will cease to exist. So, in many respects, it doesn't matter whether it's going into the pot which the administrators are in charge of, or Melrose, or Kennedy, or Elwood.
