I am really starting to be alarmed at the Orwellian thought control being pumped at us in service of political correctness.
I watched these Mammy Two-Shoes cartoons as a kid and it never occurred to me to belittle or downplay the few black women I then new in suburban Ohio. The only ones I ever met during childhood cartoon age were my school teachers and they had only the least ebonic lilt, if any at all. They were respected and listened to like any other teachers, including the few Indian (Indians from India) and the Paki's, who had far more obvious ethnic speech patterns.
I am now a scientist at Emory University in Atlanta and as white as an adult as I was as a child in Ohio. I meet black women who speak in the same ebonic pattern as Mammy Two-Shoes, usually working in menial jobs on campus. Would political correctness have me pretend that they do not exist, or that I cannot here them. I must be a vicious racist because I speak to them instead, ebonics and all.
I am sad that Mammy Two-Shoes is now some whited-up non ebonic PC poster woman. My kids are good enough people to get through an ebonic cartoon character. Apparently liberals do not make very good parents.
