Although I do understand how US minority find Mammy-2-Shoes as a symbol of slavery and racism, I don't see any efforts to honor and admire Mammy's supporting role in making Tom&Jerry shorts work. Erasing Mammy from the toon's hall of fame based on accusation of racial discrimination doesn't give Mammy any credits at all but only as a face-saving measure for political gains.
Seriously, I don't find Mammy's presences in the cartoons are all that offensive and I can see that Mammy is more like a Rosie-Riveter during the 1940s. So she is a lot more tough and strong-willed than we could imagine. So portraying a black in animations back then is offensive? If that's the case, Fat Albert is racist too.
