On Mother's Day around Major League Baseball, guys like Craig Biggio, Ken Griffey Jr., Milton Bradley, Carlos Beltran and more than 200 in all will swing bright pink bats and wear pink wristbands, making a statement no one can miss.
Their mission is to make you stop and think about breast cancer. An estimated 182,460 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed among U.S. women in 2009. An estimated 40,480 women will die from the disease this year. With numbers like that, it is inevitable that all of us know someone who has been affected with this horrible disease.
The determination shown has inspired us to do the same at our level. This Mother's Day weekend MUSHTUBE.com will be sponsoring a softball tournament at Liberty Park in Sterling Heights, MI, where we are selling t-shirts, wristbands, etc. with all proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, with those funds earmarked for scientific research as well as treatment and public-awareness initiatives.
People can pre-order t-shirts, wristbands, etc at MUSHTUBE.com, MICHIGANMUSH.com, OHIOMUSH.com and KENTUCKYMUSH.com.
During Saturday and Sunday games, we are asking ball players, fans and supporters to buy a shirt and/or wristbands and wear them in support of breast caner. The breast cancer awareness theme is to be carried throughout each game, to raise additional funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Those aren't the only ways that people can take action; you can also support the initiative by logging onto www.MUSHTUBE.com and make a monetary pledge in the name of a specific team or to the general cause.
Donations can be made at five different levels: "Single" ($25), "Double" ($50), "Triple" ($75), "Home Run" ($100) and "Grand Slam" ($250). MUSHTUBE.com has also committed an additional $1,000 on top of the donation total. Please help us achieve our fundraising goal of $10,000 for this great cause.
